1.0 — About the conference

A field convening, on a scientific footing.

The 6th International Nutrition and Dietetics Scientific Conference convenes practitioners, researchers, and policymakers across Africa and the global South. Five sub-themes structure the week — each paired with a dedicated symposium, oral sessions, and panel discussion.

Hosted by Kisii University and organised under the Journal of Nutrition and Dietetics, the conference is editorial in spirit: evidence over claims, methods over headlines.

  1. 01

    Evidence-based practice

Grounding clinical and community nutrition in rigorous, applied research.

  2. 02

    Triple burden across the lifecycle

Undernutrition, overnutrition, and micronutrient deficiency — addressed together.

  3. 03

    Policy & governance

Translating science into national guidelines and institutional reform.

  4. 04

    Food systems & fortification

Sustainable, equitable food environments that deliver nutrition outcomes.

  5. 05

    Innovation & technology

Digital tools, indigenous foods, and new methods reshaping practice.
